Golf is THRIVING

Golf is Thriving

2026 may just end up being one of the greatest golf seasons of ALL time. From incredible golf to all the drama, we are getting it ALL!

LIV IS DEAD

Another week of LIV news. Finally, the league CONFIRMS its funding conundrum, announcing that the PIF will cease funding at the end of the 2026 season. This news comes directly after LIV postpones the New Orleans Event.

What does this really mean? They hired AlixPartners, a consulting firm retained for restructuring and to help draft a new business plan to attract external investors.

But this hardly means that the league is safe. They need funding from within the US of A, and they need it NOW.

Reports have surfaced that DeChambeau's camp spent most of The Masters speaking with PGA Tour officials about his potential path back to the Tour. But just days ago, DeChambeau responded to these rumors, stating, "It's completely untrue. I am working as hard as I can to find a solution."

While this may be the case, other players are certainly looking into the fastest track back to the PGA Tour, and right now... Patrick Reed looks like he set the blueprint.

Trey Wingo, ex-ESPN analyst, has claimed that some players will be blackballed from the PGA Tour and have no way back, including household name Phil Mickelson. "That bridge has been burned, detonated, destroyed, nuked, lasered to death. There is no building that bridge back."

What does all of this mean? LIV has been circling the drain. They are doing whatever they can to preserve it, even stuffing cloth into a DEEP wound.

Cadillac Championship

Cam Young finds the winner's circle for the 2nd time this year. Playing some LIGHTS out golf. But that, of course, is not the highlight from the Cadillac Championship.

Rory McIlroy was also a headline, not because of his play but rather because of a lack of it. Rory decided to sit out the signature event after being a driving force behind the PGA Tour's decision to increase purses for signature events to make them more appealing to top players. Rory also sat out the RBC Heritage (a signature event), as well as the Texas Valero and Texas Houston Children's Open, before The Masters. He has played golf for 4 days in the last 45... But when you have 2 green jackets, you can do what you want?

Trump Doral seemed bare, with sparse crowds, minimal concessions, and empty grandstands. The media was in a frenzy, blaming F1 and The Derby, while the other half claimed it was because of whose name is on the golf course.

So, which one was it? I do not know, and truthfully, I do not really care... It was a bad event with a ton of moving pieces. But going into the PGA Championship, I think Cam Young will be a HEAVY favorite. The man is just playing incredible golf.

Justin Rose

Justin Rose causes a massive ruckus in the golf world with his abrupt announcement that he is switching to McLaren golf clubs.

This comes as a shock, as Rose has been playing solid golf... He won the Farmers Insurance Open to start the year, finished 3rd at The Masters, and was top 20 at The Players. After his switch, he finished 65th at this week's Cadillac Championship.

Rose is not only an ambassador for the company but also an investor, so he has quite a bit of skin in the game. This will not be a short-lived deal like we have seen with Rose in the past with Miura.

The McLaren golf clubs' price point was just released, and I expect NO ONE to be surprised. $375 per iron... $2,625 for 7 clubs. Sounds VERY familiar to another brand that attempted to outprice the market with luxury clubs... the brand starts with a P and ends with XG...

We will see how this experiment goes.

Nelly Korda

The 27-year-old won her 3rd career Major at the Chevron Championship in DOMINATING fashion, returning to World Number 1.

Then turns around to win the Riveria Maya Open this week.

Nelly has played 6 events so far in 2026.

Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions - 1st
Founders Cup - 2nd
Ford Championship - 2nd
Aramco Championship - 2nd
Chevron Championship - 1st
Riveria Maya Open - 1st

6 events... 3 wins & 3 runners-up. To put that in simple terms... that is pure domination.

Final Thoughts

LIV is slowly fading and doing WHATEVER they can to prolong the bleeding, while we are seeing some INCREDIBLE golf on the PGA Tour and the LPGA. And to think we are not even HALFWAY through the season, we are in for an awesome year of golf.

LIV Drama & PGA Championship Narratives

Pure Chaos Professional Golf has entered an era of pure chaos, and I am not sure golf has ever been MORE entertaining. More... LIV DRAMA Who is surprised? ABSOLUTELY nobody. Bryson finally spoke out about the penalties he would receive, stating, "quite unfortunate, in my opinion, considering what I could do for them." Then LATER in the same interview, making a comment, "Everyone needs to drop their egos"... got it... Would Bryson be an asset to the PGA Tour? ABSOLUTELY, but he is not bigger...
