Pure Chaos in the Golf World

Pure Chaos

Professional Golf has entered an era of pure chaos, and I am not sure golf has ever been MORE entertaining.

More... LIV DRAMA

Who is surprised? ABSOLUTELY nobody.

Bryson finally spoke out about the penalties he would receive, stating, "quite unfortunate, in my opinion, considering what I could do for them."

Then LATER in the same interview, making a comment, "Everyone needs to drop their egos"... got it...

Would Bryson be an asset to the PGA Tour? ABSOLUTELY, but he is not bigger than the game.

Look at Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed, taking their penalties on the chin and doing what they have to do.

Let's also be VERY clear: the PGA Tour is by no means thriving; it certainly has its own issues.

But the PGAT has been doing 'fine' without Bryson and will remain successful even if he decides to focus on his YouTube channel and not return.

Thomas Pieters, a 0-time PGA Tour winner, spoke to Dan Rapaport, saying, "I’m definitely never going back to the PGA Tour." Bummer...?

With the PGA Tour holding all the leverage, we will see what decision Brian Rolapp (PGA Tour CEO) and Co. make.

The Bryson Rule

In the midst of all the LIV drama, the PGA Tour JUST released a rule change regarding media that seems to be for ONE player who is not even on tour... Bryson DeChambeau

Here are the Rules:
- Players can now post 3 minutes of content from competition days (up from 2)
- 6 shots from the broadcast per round (up from 1)
- 8 minutes of highlights on YouTube 72 hours after the event ends (up from 5)
- 120 minutes of total highlights on their channel (up from 60)

With this, players can now earn ad revenue from practice round videos.

The tour will still collect all ad rev from videos featuring actual competition rounds.

Is this enough to bring Bryson back? Who knows, but to me it feels like the first olive branch.

Brandt Snedeker

10 PGA Tour wins, 1 FedEx Cup title, $40 million+ in career earnings, PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, 2 Ryder Cup appearances. The list goes on.

But over the past 8 years, Brandt Snedeker has remained in the shadows.

That was until Sunday, May 10th, when he returned to the winners' circle at the OneFlight Myrtle Beach Classic.

Although it is an alternate event, a win is a win is a win on the PGA Tour...

45-year-old Snedeker's career has NEVER been overpowering, but people forget that Snedeker was a FedEx Cup champion, shot a 59 on the PGA Tour, and even reached world #4 in the OWGR (Official World Golf Rankings).

And what has made him so likable over the past 22 years... no drama, no ego, just an authentic human being who is a solid golfer and keeps showing up.

Snedeker also has his plate full, as he is the 2026 Presidents Cup captain, hopefully with a much different outcome than the Ryder Cup...

But a huge shoutout to Brandt and his first victory in 8 years!

Major #2: PGA Championship

Do we have some INCREDIBLE narratives heading into the PGA Championship...

The elephant in the room, Jordan Spieth... can he FINALLY complete the career Grand Slam?

ONE win away from joining one of the most exclusive groups in sports history:
Jack Nicklaus
Tiger Woods
Gary Player
Ben Hogan
Gene Sarazen
Rory McIlroy

Spieth won 3 majors by age 23, leading the golf world to believe he might dominate for the next decade... then his game disappeared. Will we see Spieth seize immortality? Probably not, but one can hope!

Scottie Scheffler is coming off 3 straight runner-up finishes, including a one-shot loss to Rory at The Masters.

Are we going to see Rory open the floodgates after securing his Grand Slam and then REPEATING at The Masters?

Can Cam Young become a major champion? The man is playing LIGHTS out and has been insanely fun to watch. I would imagine he will come out in the top 5 in betting odds...

The LIV Golf storyline is unavoidable... DeChambeau, Rahm, and Hatton all arrive at Aronimink under massive pressure after a very poor showing from LIV as a whole at The Masters.

So even though the PGA Championship is the punching bag among the 4 majors, we are in for a GREAT weekend.

Final Thoughts

Golf is in a hilarious spot, and how lucky are we to get to experience this chaos?

The 2nd Major of the year is here, with so many incredible possible narratives. LIVs continue the drama, and we get to see OGs step back into the winners' circle. Golf is just FUN right now. Plain and Simple.
