It was one of those weeks where golf gave us EVERYTHING.
LIV IS DYING
LIV continues to create headlines & it FEELS as if the end is near.
LIV Golf's CEO Scott O'Neil confirmed in an interview that funding from the PIF will cease at the end of 2026.
What does this mean? Well, if you ask me... the candle is getting close to the end of the wick.
For LIV to be successful, they HAVE to find funding inside of the US of A, and that will not be an easy task. The business model has been bleeding money since the beginning, reports over $1.4 billion... with a B.
Then we throw the DeChambeau debacle in with new information coming to light that his team spent the better part of Masters week discussing what it would look like if he were to depart from LIV.
So what happens next? Time will tell, but I think there are TOO many moving pieces. I guess you LIV and you learn.
Fitzpatrick Magic
The best story in golf right now...
Matt Fitzpatrick, coming off an incredible playoff win against world #1 Scottie Scheffler at the RBC Heritage, heads to the Zurich Classic in New Orleans with his brother, Alex.
The Zurich is a 2-man, team-based event. Rounds 1 & 3, best ball; each player plays their own ball until holed & you take the best score of the two & that is applied to the scorecard. Rounds 2 & 4, alternate shot; players alternate between shots.
It is not the most appealing event on the PGA Tour, but it most certainly can be life-changing, and that is EXACTLY what it is for Alex Fitzpatrick.
Alex is currently playing on the DP World Tour, securing his first victory there just a few weeks ago. He was playing with a sponsor's exemption in the Zurich Classic.
Then shows up with his brother Matt, who is playing LIGHTS out & wins his first ever PGA Tour event... and with this victory, he will now hold his PGA Tour card with a 2-year exemption, entry into the remaining signature event, the PGA Championship, and the 2027 Players Championship.
An incredibly special moment for Matt, coming off a win at the RBC Heritage, to be a part of his brother securing his PGA Tour card.
Rory Firestorm
Rory confirmed he will be absent from this week's upcoming Cadillac championship in Miami. This will be his 2nd signature event skipped... in a row.
Why are people upset? Well, Rory was one of the PGA Tour's biggest supporters of Signature events, so when he skips them, the fans see it as major news.
Is it newsworthy? Probably not, but it is Rory, and anything he says or does gets people fired up. I would expect to see him back in a signature event for the Truist Championship.
Nelly Korda
The 27-year-old won her 3rd career Major at the Chevron Championship in DOMINATING fashion, returning to World Number 1.
She finished 18 under, winning by 5 shots. But somehow this victory is not Nelly's most impressive feat of 2026.
Nelly has played 5 events so far in 2026.
Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions - 1st
Founders Cup - 2nd
Ford Championship - 2nd
Aramco Championship - 2nd
Chevron Championship - 1st
5 events... 2 wins & 3 runner-ups. To put that simply... that is pure domination.
Final Thoughts
One week of golf gave us a life-changing win, LIV golf uncertainty (who's surprised), another Rory firestorm, and Nelly Korda absolutely dominating.
This 2026 season has been unbelievable so far & we are not even halfway through.
